Welcome to my web site. I am Morris Muskett, a Diné (Navajo) silversmith, weaver and engineer. My art work is produced in a small workshop in Church Rock, New Mexico, which is on the Navajo Reservation. I produce each of my pieces one at a time by hand. I don't employ any other people in the creation of my work and none of my designs is ever mass produced. You can purchase my work with the knowledge that you will own an individual work by a tribally enrolled Diné artist.
In keeping with the Diné tradition of treading lightly on the earth, I use only reclaimed and recycled metals to produce my jewelry.
I'm able to show only some of my work online, so if you don't see exactly what you want, please contact me to see if I have what you are looking for or if I can make it for you.
I finally completed my Navajo pearls! I have been working on them since September 2009. Handmade beads are tedious and laborious to make! I soldered, filed, sanded twice and polished each bead one by one. I just finished Spider #14 and I have one more spider to go!
Please contact me if you have questions or are interested in purchasing these pieces. Thank you and enjoy!

I have one more Corn Maiden and two more spiders to complete after these pieces. Here are my newest pieces. Please contact me if you have any questions or are interested in purchasing. Thank you and enjoy!

Here is a rare offering of coral dragonfly cross necklaces and mokume gane tab earrings. I have specially prices these pieces so I can reduce some of my inventory. I hope you enjoy and consider purchasing these treasures. I continue to experiment with materials and designs so once these pieces sell I cannot offer them again. The market also changes so these materials are not always consistent nor high quality.
I purchased these coral tubular beads 3 years ago in 2007. I am finding it more difficult and more expensive to locate and purchase quality beads and stones. By the way, my coral dragonfly cross necklaces are my BESTSELLERS! Please contact me if you have any questions.
Four coral dragonfly cross necklaces. 22″ length. Handmade clasps and handstamped sterling silver dragonfly cross.
Detail of dragonfly cross. Each cross is similar, but not exactly identical. Handstamped sterling silver cross.
I am working in my first series this year, Spider Woman and Spider Man. In Dine’ oral history (not Navajo legend nor myth), it is Spider Woman who teaches the Dine’ to weave along with Spider Man’s help. Spider Woman and Spider Man are holy people in my culture. I am a male Dine’ weaver so this is my tribute to the rich oral history and sacred ceremony to Spider Woman and Spider Man.
I hope you enjoy these pieces. Please contact me if you are seriously interested in purchasing the following pieces.

Here are the pics from my Hozhoo presentation at the University of Colorado on Feb. 5, 2010 at the opening of the third phase of the Diamonds, Dreams and Landscapes Exhibit. I had a wonderful time with everyone I met and talked with. Thanks to Kathy for taking the pics!
Here I am talking about the Navajos’ Long Walk to Hweeldi. I also suggested the audience read Bighorse the Warrior by Tiana Bighorse and Noel Bennett. This book is a rare treat where the story of the Long Walk is entirely in the Navajo voice and not the voice of a non-Navajo. Please read it if you have a chance.
I used a Mac for my Powerpoint presentation. I am hunched over a little as the podium was low for me. I am wearing my first phase Navajo chief blanket.
I thought about offering just a weaving class. I am one of few male Navajo weavers willing to teach a Navajo weaving class. I want to offer more than a weaving class. I want to offer an experience to people that from a male Navajo weaver’s perspective. I want to share with you traditional sacred places on my reservation, talk with weavers, warp and dress a Navajo loom, and see and smell Navajo sheep! Weaving is largely dependent on the Navajo shepards, Navajo sheepcamps, shearing, and washing and handspinning the wool. This is what I have to offer you if you are interested in taking a with Navajo class with me.
I also can offer you a glimpse of my Navajo world with a unique perspective. I am aware of the Navajo world and culture while also being familiar with the non-Native world. I like to think of myself as my own cultural interpreter, and I want to offer that to you also.
Here’s the part I am working on. For 7 days of Navajo weaving, visiting weavers, and traveling to sacred Navajo places, I anticipate on charging $700 to $900 for the weaving class with looms, wool, and tools provided for students to use. I’d prefer staying at hotels/motels on the Navajo reservation for the 7 days of the class, but I do not know the seasonal/non-seasonal rates. Please contact me if you have any questions and/or are interested in my Navajo weaving class.
I have been working on some spider pins this weekend. I made 4 spiders–3 are pins and one is a pendant. I will be posting these pics when I straightenen out my technical difficulty. I have a feeling it will be until later this week. Stay tuned for spider pins and pendants.
